The girls had fun perfecting their golf swings this weekend.  Grace's club of choice is the spatula, while Ella prefers the broom.

Sutton isn't quite big enough yet, but I know his Poppy and Bubba can't wait to get him his own set of clubs.  In the meantime, he had fun hanging out with Poppy and Dory.

Her New Thing

Ella's newest "thing" is dressing herself.  She gets so happy when it works out, and when it doesn't she gets very frustrated.  Just one more sign that she's growing up :(

A Recap

I've been so busy lately that I haven't had time to blog, and now that I'm going back to work tomorrow, I'm not sure how good I'll be with updating.  Hopefully, I can continue to do this because I really enjoy using this as the kids' virtual (and only) scrapbook.  But, tomorrow starts a new chapter in my life.  I'm going to be a working mom of three kids (under 4).  Not only that, but for the first time in my legal career, I'm not going to be a big firm lawyer.  I'm going to be a small firm lawyer, or really, a small women-owned firm lawyer.  I couldn't be more excited!  I'll be in the office just four days a week and have a reduced billing requirement.  I've been praying for such an opportunity for a while, and God dropped this in my lap less than a month ago. Although I'm sad to leave my friends behind at the firm where I've spent the past 5 years, I'm thrilled to embark on this new journey.  God is good!

On Friday, Travis and I took Grace and Ella to the Dallas World Aquarium.  Instead of driving, we took the "choo train," which was an experience in itself.  The girls loved it and wanted to do it again the next day.

Up and Down

Last week, my mom and I took Grace to the movies for the first time.  Grace was so excited about our movie date, and she could hardly wait for Dory to arrive this afternoon.  The three of us headed over to the Inwood Theatre to see "Up."  Grace was way too excited to pose for me...

We got our tickets...

...loaded up on candy (Grace picked Skittles), popcorn and pink lemonade, and then headed up to the theatre.  Things were looking good at first...

And they stayed this way for about an hour.  

But, then things changed.  Has anyone else seen this movie?  For those of you that haven't, it's about an old man who ties a bunch of balloons to his house so he doesn't have to go into a retirement home.  He heads off to South America, which is something he and his wife (who was his childhood sweetheart) had wanted to do since they were kids.  But, they kept putting it off for one reason or another.  She eventually dies, and he's left all alone.  It's REALLY, REALLY sad!  

My mom and I were crying about 10 minutes into the movie, and at that point, I was beginning to doubt whether we'd make it to the end.  I kept trying to distract Grace, but I could see the concerned look on her face...Well, she made it much farther than I thought she would, and then she said, "Mommy, I don't want to buy this movie.  Let's go home!"  And, the tears started flowing.  My sweet, sensitive girl had had enough.  So, we left, dried up the tears, and went to I Heart Yogurt for a delicious sundae.  She perked up pretty quickly!

When we were done, she asked, "Can we go back in?"  I explained that the movie was probably over, but that we could watch it on DVD soon if she wanted to.  She apparently wants to try to watch it again, but I'm not sure I even want to.  It was too sad!  

We did a little shopping before heading home, and Grace wanted to take this home...

So, Grace's first movie experience had its ups and downs, but knowing her great memory, I'm betting it's something she'll never forget!

Sutton is 3 Months Old!

Sutton has had another great month!  He's eating and sleeping very well.  Most nights, he only gets up for one feeding around 3:30--yea!  He still loves to be swaddled tightly in the Miracle Blanket, but he occasionally busts out and wakes himself up.  He's definitely been the easiest baby to put to bed.  He doesn't need to be rocked him to sleep, but when he's ready to go down, we just wrap him up, give him his paci and  turn on the play aquarium in his crib.  He's usually silent, but sometimes we can hear him cooing himself to sleep.  So sweet.  I'm not sure how much he weighs right now, but he's completely outgrown his 0-3 month clothes and he's got lots of cute little rolls on his tummy, legs and arms.  

He's spending much more time awake, and he's such a playful little guy.  He loves hanging out in his bouncy seat and has gotten quite good at reaching for, grabbing and kicking his toys.  He constantly coos and giggles.  He loves to stand up on our laps, and everyone is surprised by how strong his legs are.  He can hold his head up really well, and he's gaining strength in his trunk. He did great in the Bumbo seat for the first time (but would not look up at the camera)...

And, we can check another milestone off the list...Sutton rolled over today for the first time!  I laid him on his tummy (which he hates), and he kept kicking his legs.  About 30 seconds later, he just flipped over!  Poppy, Dory, Grace, Ella and I saw it, and I think Sutton was just as surprised as we were.  Poor little guy got this shocked look on his face and started to wail.  He did it again for Travis later, so I'll try to get a picture soon.

Just like Ella, Sutton loves the changing table in the laundry room.  We spend a lot of time in there having babble conversations and watching him eat his hands.

Sutton absolutely loves Travis.  And, although Travis adores Grace and Ella, I'm so happy he's getting to raise a son.  I just love my boys!

We're so thankful for yet another month with our healthy, happy boy.  My maternity leave ends in less than two weeks, and I know it will be hard to be away from him.  He's growing up so fast!
