A Smile

I finally got one on camera!
Not sure why the red eye reduction did something strange to his eyes...

Swimming Fun

Grace and Ella still love the water...
Look at the difference a year makes:
Sutton was too tired to join in the fun, but he looked cute in his tiny swim trunks.

Happy 27th Ryan!

Bubba turned 27 on Sunday, but we started celebrating early by having family and friends over for a birthday dinner on Friday night.  Travis grilled fajitas and onions, and Grace and I made chocolate cupcakes.  It was wonderful to have everyone here, and I think it was a great start to what turned out to be a super fun and busy birthday weekend for my baby brother.  I was too busy to get many pictures, but here are a few:
We love you, Bubba!

Ouchies

Poor Ella.  It's been a rough day.

This is what her face looks like after she fell climbing up on Sutton's stroller (it's so much worse in person)
This is what her toes look like after she dropped a metal lid on them
At least she had a little fun at the splash park earlier
So did Grace :)

Happy Father's Day

When I married Travis, I knew that he would be a good father.  But, I could never have imagined that he would be this good.  Every day, I am thankful that my babies have such a loving, devoted and patient daddy. He really is incredible, and he's established special bonds with all three of them.  They don't even know how blessed they are!

Travis spent his first father's day as a father of three by waking up at 4:45 (yikes) to start smoking ribs and chicken.  I swear it was all his idea, and he was actually happy about it!  Once he got all of that going, he stopped by the donut shop to get donut holes for Grace and Ella.  He said it was because he "wanted his girls to be happy" on his special day.  They were thrilled, of course, and it was a great start to a day full of yummy treats.  His ribs and chicken were truly delicious, and we had a lovely lunch with Grambi, Papa Jim, Bubba and Uncle Lindsey.

Obviously, it's been a busy few years :)

I'm also fortunate to have a wonderful daddy and grandfather, so Happy Father's Day to both of you, too!

Sutton is 1 Month Old!

I know this is late, but I'm doing my best here.  Thanks for understanding :)  So, our sweet Sutton is one month old.  As I told Travis last night, in some ways it feels like he's been here way longer than that, but in other ways, I can't believe a month has already flown by.  What fun we've had getting to know our little man!

In the past week, Sutton's gotten a bit fussier.  I was thinking it was gas, but the Mylicon was kind of hit-or-miss at relieving his symptoms.  Last Monday and Tuesday were the worst, and poor Murse and Fathers were here for that part. Thankfully, he seems better this week, and Dr. D assured me that it's normal at this age because he lacks the ability to self-soothe.  Travis has discovered that Sutton likes to be tightly swaddled, but only his arms and not his feet.  This really helps when he's in a crying fit.  He likes the paci more now, but sometimes fights it.  When he finally gives in, it's also a gem at helping him calm down.  He's still sleeping most of the time, but his awake periods are getting longer.  He likes to spend that time in the bouncy seat just looking around or on his tummy trying to lift his head.  On his actual one month birthday, I caught his first smile, and I've seen it again a couple of times.  It's very cute, as you can imagine.

Sutton also got his first bottle on Monday.  He took it like a champ, which was such a relief because Travis and I had planned a late anniversary dinner for that night and I was worried he might not like me being away.  Gramby was nice enough to keep all three babies for us, and we enjoyed a delicious and HOT meal without having to take care of anyone else!  Happy belated 5 year anniversary to us!

I still think Sutton looks like Travis, but I also see a lot of Grace in him.  And, he reminds me of her as a baby.  His hair is light brown/blond and his eyes are still blue.  Before I took him to his one-month checkup, I had a feeling his weight gain was on target because he's outgrown his size N diapers and newborn-size clothes.  Dr. D confirmed this--Sutton is up to 9 lbs 1 oz!  Here are his stats:
Weight:  9 lbs 1 oz (25th percentile)
Length: 21 3/8 in (50th percentile)
Head:  14 3/4 in (25th percentile)
Way to grow, Sutton!  We still feel incredibly blessed to have another perfect, precious baby.  God is good!

What a cutie!

We Heart Rudy's

Travis and I first ate at Rudy's in New Braunfels when I was in college and he was in dental school.  We'd spent a long day tubing the Comal River with friends, and it was the perfect meal to end the day.  Nine years later, we still love it.  But, there's not one near us, so when we saw the sign on our way back from OKC, we had to stop.  They still have awesome BBQ and it's kid friendly (which wasn't important to us back then, but is a requirement now).
Poor Ella was so tired and grumpy, even though she enjoyed their smoked turkey.  Grace liked it, too, but I think her favorite part were the Cheetos we let her have :)

OKC

We spent the past weekend in OKC visiting my parents.  Due to a major storm on Thursday, we didn't have electricity for nearly 12 hours, so we left on Thursday night.  Everyone slept most of the way, but we didn't arrive at Poppy and Dory's house until 12:30!  The girls got a second wind and finally fell asleep giggling with Dory around 1:30.  And, yes, they still woke up at 7 a.m.- yikes!  Here's a recap of the weekend in pictures.

Feeding the geese with Poppy
Sutton playing with Dory
A little nap
Enjoying snow cones outside
We're in trouble now--she learned how to take her diaper off!
