Our Fabulous Four-Year-Old

It started out like this...
and we instantly fell in love with this baby girl. She's grown up so much, and so have we.
1 year
1 and 1/2
2 years
2 and 1/2
3 years
3 and 1/2
4 years
My heart is full of a love I didn't know existed before she made me a mother. I'm overwhelmed by God's grace and feel incredibly blessed just to know her. She makes our lives better in so many ways. She's incredibly sensitive and kind. She's always been described as having a sweet spirit, and that's more true today than ever. She's no longer a baby or even a toddler. She's a little girl, fighting for independence in some ways, and clinging to us in others.

This is such a special age. Travis calls her "our little sponge" because she's constantly taking in the world and learning new things. She can write her own name now and alternates between "Grace" and "Gracie." She's doing simple addition and subtraction. She knows and recognizes all the letters and the sounds they make. She can also write most of them. She's constantly telling us what letter certain words start with and likes to sound them out. At the parent-teacher conference this week at her school, her teachers called her a "wonderful, gorgeous girl" and said she "has a love of learning." They were amazed by her pre-reading and writing skills. They also noticed that she loves rules and is very methodical. I wonder where she gets that...

She is a wonderful big sister. Ella wants to do everything she does, and Sutton lights up when he sees her.
Her 4-year check-up was quite an experience. Apparently, her friends told her about "all the shots" and they "cried a lot." Thankfully, Chachi came with us and provided some comfort.
Grace put on a brave face for the measurement portion of the exam, but as soon as Dr. D walked in, she started crying.
Poor thing.
She got four shots and screamed bloody murder the whole time. It didn't stop there, as the shots were followed by a specimen sample (a very messy process, just like last year) and finger prick. It was a definitely a tough one, but she made it and doesn't have to go back for a while! Here are her stats:
Height: 3 ft 3 and 3/4 in. (50th percentile; up from 25th last year)
Weight: 28 lbs (5th percentile; FINALLY on the charts!!)
It's been an amazing four years, and we look forward to many, many more years with our sweet girl!
