She's Gonna Be a Soccer Player

Gracie has been talking about playing soccer for over a year, so she was super excited to start soccer this spring. Instead of signing up for "real soccer," as she calls it, we're doing a Small Fry league through the YMCA. It's more of an introduction to soccer, and it combines a practice and scrimmage into one. Travis is her coach (because I volunteered him), and although he's never really played soccer, he was more than happy to help. Plus, how much can you really expect to teach 3 and 4-year-olds?

Minus a major scheduling fiasco that I embarrassingly created, Grace's first game was a success. In her words, it was "AWESOME!" Poppy and Dory even surprised us at the soccer field and got to watch the action. Travis did a great job improvising because the YMCA coach wasn't there. The kids didn't seem to mind at all, especially because the weather was sunny and gorgeous!

Soccer cutie, in the pink shorts, pink undershirt and pink soccer
accessories that she delightedly chose
She loves Coach Spillman
Listening to directions (she's really good at this)
Finally, some kicking
My mischievous one
A little alone time to check out the goal
Poor little guy's allergies got the best of him
ALL the kids were itching to get off the soccer field and onto the playground
Check out her tongue- this must be an inherited trait
They couldn't wait to ride the tire swing
Fun times for the girl team
Even if Grace doesn't end up being a "real" soccer player, she's having fun now, and that's all that matters :)
