Family Fun Day

We had a very busy Saturday, full of family friendly fun.  After a delicious breakfast of Mickey Mouse pancakes (or as Ella says, "Me Mouse pan-ceck"), we visited the White Rock Farmers Market.  I didn't take any pictures because we only stayed for five minutes due to the sweltering heat. From there, we headed to the Galleria.  It was much cooler, and they have a fabulous new indoor play area.  Grace and Ella had a blast climbing, sliding and swinging. Sutton looked a bit interested, but didn't mind hanging back with his daddy (notice their matching t-shirts and plaid shorts).

After the girls were good and hungry, they got "Chinese food" aka chicken teriyaki and white rice. For some reason, they love eating this at the mall, and I figure it's better than McNuggets and fries.  On our way out, we stopped by the candy store.  Ella chose "mink" M&Ms, and Grace chose red and orange gummi bears. Because naptime was approaching, we didn't let them go overboard with the sugar, and we got out of there for a mere $2.50!  

After their 2 1/2 hour naps, we filled up the kiddie pool and turned on the sprinkler in the backyard. Travis even joined them because he needed cooling off after mowing the yard.  

When it was nearing time for dinner, Grace announced that we were going to have a fancy tea party.  She picked out fancy outfits for herself and Ella, and ordered Travis and I to do the same. Apparently, Travis doesn't understand that shorts are "not fancy, Daddy," and he had to change clothes.  I chose a lavender beaded silk dress, which Grace liked, but she said, "Mommy, can you take your hair out of a pony tail and put on some nice earrings?"  Yes ma'am.  After she'd approved all of our outfits, I made a delicious dinner of chicken noodle soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, and fruit salad.  Grace set the table and Ella's high chair with her Disney princess tea party set, and we also set out some real china and wine glasses.  It was a great idea, and we all had a great time!

Sutton even got fancy in a smocked outfit, but he fell asleep before dinner.

After dinner, the girls waited patiently for fancy ice cream--Haagen Daaz chocolate chocolate chip (my all-time favorite) and popcorn.  Then, we all settled down to watch Peter Pan.  What a great end to a great day!
