Wow! A year and a half ago, this precious girl came into our lives. We've learned and grown so much as a family, and every day with Ella is a blessing. She continues to make us laugh and often gasp at her fearlessness. She keeps the mood light and is teaching us a lot about patience. Her favorite word right now is "NNNNNO!," but she's also added a lot of new words and phrases this month: pitty (pretty), bracelet, earrings, church, "good morning," toast, milk, cheese, noonles (noodles) and outside. She's very honest about what she wants--"Mama, chee-os in bup!" (Not sure why she calls cups "bups," but she does.). Cheerios are definitely her favorite snack. Grace was never a big fan of the Snack Trap, but Ella loves it and needs it. She often leaves a trail of Cheerios behind her.
One of the silliest things she does is wakes up every morning and asks, "Cookies? Cookies?" She does it with the funniest look in her face, as if to say, "I know you're probably going to say no, but it doesn't hurt to ask." She's also now in LOVE with "ice keen" (ice cream), which further validates the fact that she is my child and Grace's sister.
She laughs often and takes delight in tickling Grace, riding Baylor like a horse, and stomping on bugs outside. She likes to make us laugh, too. Every night, after she brushes her teeth, she starts saying, "Read gook! Read gook!" We'll say, "Ella, it's book. Not gook. Ba-ba-ba-book!" She'll smile and repeat, "Ba-ba-ba-gook!" We go through this multiple times, and she laughs, but refuses to say "book," even though the "b" sound is her best (baby, bye bye, Bay, beep beep). Her new favorite book is "Pinkalicious," which is surprising because it takes more than 1 minute to read and she sits through the whole thing. She loves point to the "cake" on every page. She's still enchanted by Dora, Elmo, Barbie and now "Booty" (aka Sleeping Beauty). She's also taken a liking to baby dolls, which she enjoys pushing around in the stroller. She also likes climbing into the doll stroller and having someone push her around...
Ella can identify and say the following body parts: head, hair, eyes, nose, ears, mouth, teeth, tongue, elbow, tummy, bee-bo (belly button), knee, toes and feet. Her hair has grown and gotten curlier. It looks just like Grace's did at this age. She looks adorable in pigtails, if you can get her to sit still long enough to get them in. She tries to put on her own clothes, but still needs help. She is fascinated with "pitty" things like bracelets, necklaces and shoes. Oh, does she love shoes! She likes to pick out her own and often confiscates shoes from all over the house...
Ella's super girly side is balanced out by a super adventurous side, and I often tell Travis that God gave us Ella to prepare us for a boy. On Monday, Ella got her first HUGE goose-egg when she climbed on the box to the new carseat and took a tumble. Travis saw it and said it was a good one, but the swelling had gone down considerably by the time I got home. Now, she's got this nice bruise, and I have a feeling there will be more to come. She's the one we have to keep a constant eye on. If she's ever quiet, we know she's up to something. Earlier this month, she disappeared after her bath, and this is how we found her...
Yep, she had confiscated Grace's apple off the coffee table, pulled the Boppy off my shelf and made herself comfortable in the closet :) Oh, precious Ella. I can't believe you're about to be a big sister. You are still our baby, but we know you're going to be great in your new role. We love you to pieces!
